Bridging the Gap between Academia and the Private Sector – Forum

The December revolution has created long anticipated space for conversations and partnerships focused on the sustainable and equitable development of Sudan. It is believed that there are many opportunities to tap on in order to create a stronger relationship between the private sector and academia in Sudan, two sectors where coordination and cooperation is not very active, in order to contribute to the development of the Country.

Thus Haggar Stakeholders latest Forum, held on September 3rd, 2020, addressed the topic of “Bridging the Gap between Academia and the Private Sector” in Sudan.

The forum was honored by Professor Ahmed Hassan Fahal, Chairman of the Scientific Research and Innovation Agency, in his capacity as the representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and was facilitated by Mr. Walid Alasad, Managing Director of DIOWS.

The forum hosted renowned speakers such as Prof. Hasabo Muhammad Ahmed, Head of Nanotechnology and Composite Material Research Center; Dr. Islam Awad from the University of Khartoum, Dr. Khalid Ahmed Tarig CEO of Blue Ocean Systems DWC LLC; Ms Walaa Elsayed, Founder of R4SCB and last but not least Mr. Al-Haj Warag, Editor in Chief of Hurriyat Newspaper. The speakers covered a diverse set of topics including one on the Triple Helix of Academia, Government & Private Sector Interaction; Closing the Management Theory-Practice Gap; Research Entrepreneurship; Research for Sudan Community Building Society introduction as well as a topic on the Role of Media in linking t Academia with the Private Sector.

The audience included representatives of elite academic institutions and research centers, owners and professionals of the private sector as well as public figures and NGO workers.
