The Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE)

September, 2022 | Haggar Group

The Centre for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) works to improve integrity standards, increase transparency, and strengthen compliance programs within businesses to help them grow and address corruption. A private sector company endorsed/certified by CIPE gets to be featured on the website of the US Chamber of Commerce, which will increase the willingness of US companies to invest in or join ventures with these companies. CIPE will help Haggar fit within the Ethics 1st Governance and Corporate Ethics compliance benchmark which is based on internationally recognized standards adapted for business operations in emerging markets. Ethics 1st is a platform for African businesses looking to build global recognition and gain trust with global investors and business partners.

Haggar CO. LTD and Aloula for Financial and Accounting Studies started discussions for Haggar to embark on CIPEs certification exercise in December 2018 and signed the agreement in July 2019, this effort comes as an extension to Haggar’s commitment to conducting business in an ethical, socially conscious manner. As an official signatory of the UN Global Compact since 2017, Haggar is committed to uphold the 10 principles of the UNGC which cover human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. This is also incorporated in the Group’s internal Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) policy that measures the sustainable and ethical impact of investments and business operations.
