The Road to GES Sudan event was held on May 16th, co-hosted by the United States and Netherlands embassies in Khartoum and organized by 249startups. Under the theme “The Future Now”, the event hosted a pitch competition for five startups that work in Agri/Food, Connectivity, Energy, Health, and Water.
In his keynote remarks, Haggar’s CEO – Mr. Anthony Haggar emphasized the importance of empowering SMEs and entrepreneurs with capital and fair investments for the future of Sudan and Africa. He said: “Capital is the challenge, and this is precisely why as a Group we are investing so much time and energy into enabling others to succeed… Ultimately our success can’t be measured by our self-achievements, we must be held to a higher bar and that is our ability to help many more beyond us succeed.”
The winner of the pitch competition, Nahla Omer, founder of Sukar Cosmetics, won the chance to a fast track chance to participate and attend The Global Entrepreneurship Summit that will be held on June 4-5 2019 in The Hague, The Netherlands.
