community involvement & development projects
These programmes focus mainly on:
Supporting education at all levels; engaging in actions to improve educational quality
Supporting access to essential health care services, to clean water and appropriate sanitation
Supporting capacity building and income generation activities to all vulnerable groups
Making positive social, economic and environmental interventions to vulnerable communities when needed
model of implementation adopted
The approach used involved annual grants to development projects in pre-determined sectors with a relatively significant contribution given to each project. Recently, a shift has been made to fund small-scale interventions with significantly higher impact on vulnerable groups, focusing on the most marginalized and on more sustainable activities. It has been clearly observed that small-scale projects are very fast in implementation and much easier to monitor and evaluate.
This approach also enables the company to become a more involved donor, ensuring a higher impact on target beneficiaries. This approach has yielded the following benefits:
Identification of projects became more efficient with the majority of the projects being identified by the beneficiaries themselves.
Resources have been efficiently allocated with over 90% of funds directly serving target beneficiaries rather than the implementing partner.
Allowed for a continuous improvement process through a higher level of involvement of the CSI team and a stronger engagement with partners.
